  1. I am a happy Light Bicycle Carbon rim customer! I agree that their customization offering is what got my business

  2. Blah Blah Blah Blah… Not one single "Chinese" brand is compatible with developing a single ORIGINAL idea! China bike's manufacturing competitive advantage = COPYCAT ALL CREATIVE IDEAS FROM ELSEWHERE x TAKE SHORTCUTS.

Close to ZERO% Chinese brands know how to spell "Q.C.", let alone executing QC properly!

**As a 1/2 Chinese entrepreneurs working in the creative industry, I have to state the FACTS!

  3. This series has been amazing – great job. All the tech rundowns were spot on and this video was a brilliant idea to round it off. Great to hear from the brands and see the human side of the Chinese industry – very eloquent interviews and astonishingly good English when it was used.

  4. I feel like, if these brands could at least provide technical videos of how to build up their products at home.
It would get a lot more new bike customers, who don't have much technical experience and confidence comfortable buying and building up these type of bikes.

  5. I loved living and working in China as an American engineer. There is more nuance and passion there than the West gives them credit for.

  6. They have a huge home market because people there are into it. This reinforces investment in making better equipment and will drive value like the Chinese groupsets

  7. Joe, thanks for compiling & translating these interviews. I hope we (here in the USA) are able to benefit from the ingenuity & value proposition of some of these companies.

  8. I’m amazed how relatively young these people are. What a great insight into the entrepreneurs of china. Certainly a great advertisement for Chinese brands and the people that run them.

  9. Such a good video. If i end up by a tavelo down the road, this perspective and answers helped me like thier bike brand more.

  10. Great to see the Chinese market developing in this area – I hope they succeed. This world needs less war and more biking.

  11. It’s really interesting to hear that most of these leaders in the Chinese bike industry believe that within five years they will be at the forefront of the bicycle industry worldwide. Only one man said within three years. This man is more on the money , just like when Japan in the 1960’s took on the worldwide car industry China is on the crest of a wave which will continue so long as a few crucial steps are set up and continued innovation occurs.as was highlighted by a few people being interviewed these items a are crucial.
Inventory close to the purchasing countries (waiting times are too long for many customers)
Customer service to efficiently fix any problems
Spare parts back up to satisfy any customer requirements
Marketing that basically confirms what most of already know that the vast amount of bikes and components are already made in China or Taiwan
Controlling production costs within their manufacturing industries
The Chinese industry is gradually realising that with a few basic steps it will be the leader in the bicycle industry. This leadership will be achieved soon under its own BRAND name and not others who are basically screwing us the Western consumers for every dollar they can.
Another terrific video Joe , if you don’t receive an honourable mention within the Chinese Bicycle hall of fame I’ll be surprised . 👍👍

  12. Mabye sponsor some cat 1/2 teams on the crit circuit in the US with some frames. That would be pretty cost effective. Team I'm on races up and down the East Coast of the US from Florida to Delaware. Only chinese frames I've seen out in the wild was a few Elves frames.

  13. It’s nice to see that these guys understand the reality of the market. (not to say I didn’t expect them to necessarily) However it was great to hear the guy from Overfast especially, I appreciate his comment that he thinks the Chinese brands need to focus on building their own brands and image, rather than copying things for cheap.

Also, interesting/funny to see the brands that I’m more familiar with as a westerner are the brands who’s representatives in this video speak the best english, which is likely a proxy for their experience with foreign markets.

  14. They understand their strength well enough. Too bad they completely misunderstand their weakness. Their real weakness is the lack of innovation. It doesn't matter how cheap and high quality your product is, innovation is how you separate yourself from your competition.
