これまで見たことのない景色に溢れ、広大な大地に感動しっぱなしのロードトリップ、4泊5日。
冬は天候も変わりやすく日照時間も短く、マイナスな面が多いように感じてしまいますが、それ以上に得られる大自然の感動は計り知れませんでした。

今回火山噴火の影響で、ブルーラグーンが営業停止になってしまい行けなかったのは残念でしたが、夏のアイスランドへ行く楽しみが出来たと思っています。

惑星にいるようなアイスランドの大地を、是非ぼーっとリラックスしながら見てもらえたら嬉しいです。

One week before my trip to Iceland. At this time, there was news that a volcano had erupted… “Is it really possible to travel during Christmas?” Fortunately, the volcano subsided within about three days. We came to Iceland in the middle of winter for our last trip in 2023.

This is the beginning of a 4-night, 5-day road trip. The sky looked like the sun was about to set, but it was still only 12 noon. First, I’ll head to the supermarket. Today is December 24th, Christmas Eve. All stores will be closed tomorrow for Christmas.

So I’m going to buy tomorrow’s food at the supermarket. Discover Japanese sweets! . I’ll stop at a gas station. I’m going to have a quick lunch. Head to Reykjavik, the capital of Iceland. After 40 minutes of running, the city came into view. Hallgrimskirkja Church, the symbol of Reykjavik. A cute Scandinavian landscape

With colorful houses and advent lights by the windows . Oh! I found a beautiful view. A sunset wrapped in gentle orange. Crab walking! lol. A cold wind that pierces my skin. Unable to resist, my husband and I bought neck warmers together. 66°North is an outdoor brand from Iceland. A Scandinavian Christmas

With calm colors . The weather at the destination looks nice! . A frozen window. I was planning to go to the hot spring facility “Blue Lagoon” today, but it was temporarily closed as it was close to the eruption area. Let’s forget it and move on.

We will visit three popular sightseeing spots called the “Golden Circle”. The sunrise was so beautiful that I couldn’t help but take a detour. Thingvellir National Park is one of the world heritage sites. A bright red morning sun that looks like a sunset.

A rift in the earth. You can walk between the Eurasian and North American plates. It’s a magical feeling that continues from the time the sun comes out until sunset . Lunch was a boxed lunch and warm soup in the car. The winter season transforms even waterfalls into fantastical scenery. 2 pm.

I rush forward. In winter in Iceland, the daylight hours are about 4 hours, so the sightseeing time per day is limited. I wonder if I’ll be able to go to two other places in time until sunset… Next we came to the Strokkur geyser.

Geysers are hot springs in which underground water is heated by magma and turns into water vapor that erupts above the ground. 10 minutes of waiting. The sun has set… The last stop is Gullfoss Waterfall. Tonight’s Christmas dinner is a special dish that we have saved for this day! lol.

By the way, you can drink tap water in Iceland. I’m glad I brought some rice that can be prepared with hot water. It’s a Japanese flavor after all. Today is the day to explore the “Ice World”. Cars are also charged with energy. I also tried driving today.

It’s a 2 hour drive from Vik town. The first destination is now in sight. Jokulsarlon glacier lagoon, with ice blocks floating on the lake. I’m speechless at this sight I’ve never seen before. Countless pieces of ice have drifted into pieces from the lake to the sea.

The pieces of ice scattered on the black sand beach look like diamonds. Today’s final destination. Drive along the beaten track and head to the glacier cave. The cave can only be accessed by tour. After getting off the car, it took 40 minutes to walk to the entrance of the cave.

All the gray areas visible in the background are glaciers. Glaciers are melting so rapidly that their shape seems to change every day. Once you see the entrance, put on your crampons and headlight. Let’s go inside the cave! . An ice cave that changes its appearance every day. You will never see the same

Scenery again . I’m gradually getting into a position where my lower back hurts…lol. Dinner at the hotel tonight. Everything was delicious , even if I was hungry ! . After your meal, warm up in the sauna. Today we had a long 5 hour drive back to Reykjavik.

Since the weather is changeable, check the road conditions on the app. The land of Iceland shows many different expressions. On our last day in Iceland, we went to a general store in Reykjavik. All of the hand-knitted knits sold in this shop are made in Iceland.

The most delicious hot dog restaurant in the universe, famous for being eaten by the president of the United States. Dinner on our last day was at this restaurant, which is famous for its lobster soup. Lobster soup that every customer orders. The fragrant skewers are also delicious and recommended! .

I will finish my last trip in 2023 by eating the hot dog that I missed yesterday .
