【千歳楼の歴史】
千歳楼は一七六四年（宝暦年間）この地、養老に創業しました。
あたかも元正天皇御臨幸から一千年にあたるところから千歳楼と命名し、その後明治十三年県令小崎利準翁、松方老公の命を受け地方有志と図ってここに養老公園が造成されると、まもなく滝から五百メートル下の最も景観の優れた丘上に改築されました。千歳楼の歴史の中で、多くの著名人の方々にお越しいただきました。

【Welcome to SENZAIROU located in Yoro town which has a long history】
The town Yoro, which means respect and care for elders, in Gifu prefecture was named after a famous legend of a young poor man in this region working hard for his parents. He wished the water in the waterfall to be Sake, a favorite of his father. It is said that his wish became true, rewarding his filial piety. The Emperor of the time, impressed by the story, named the town Yoro and the waterfall Yoro Fall. About a thousand years later, SENZAIROU was established in 1764 (SENZAI means millennium in Japanese).
【Travel back in time with the rich history of SENZAIROU】
The building is registered as a national cultural property for its wonderful mixture of architectural styles of Meiji, Taisyo, and Syowa eras. While we have made some changes to keep up with modern demands, there are many features of the building that have not been touched since 1764, such as the main entrance, which will take you back in time.
