ROLAND: You won’t be able to do anything as an office worker if you have it as a compromise. Doing the office work isn’t that easy. Many applicants with strong characteristics applied to the audition to become a Host.

Applicant: Don’t I look like Keisuke Honda? Applicant: Some tell me that I look like Sho Hirano. Applicant: I just resigned my job, a public servant, for this audition. Yushi: It doesn’t fulfil the hiring criteria.

ROLAND: I feel like he will lie about something and make some trouble. Yushi: No one can do everything when they start. (The submissive subordinate Yushi disagrees with ROLAND) Yushi: I think we can teach and train them after they start working. ROLAND: I fear that the Osaka stores might fail.

Out of all the applicants with strong characteristics, who will pass the audition? Applicant: I also made a business card. ROLAND: God damn, that’s insane. ROLAND: So your name is Tetsuya Takeda (a famous Japanese actor)? Teppei: Nope, my name is Teppei Takada. Teppei: I’m not Tetsuya Takeda… (Both mimicking Tetsuya Takeda’s famous jokes)

ROLAND: Allright then, please introduce yourself. Teppei: I’m 28 yrs old, and have worked as a Host for year each in both Kabukicho and Osaka. Teppei: And I’d like to apply for the office work position. ROLAND: What?! I thought you wanted to work as a Host. What happened to your hair.

Teppei: I went to a hair salon this morning, though was charged with extra 5000 Yen for early morning charging fee. ROLAND: Yet you want to be a… Teppei: An office worker. I’m a little unique in a sense that I have some hardcore fans.

ROLAND: We also are targeting the hardcore fans, so I understand. It’s a niche market. Teppei: Oh, so then I can be the third person sitting next to you two… Aiiiiiii (One of the Tetsuya Takeda’s joke). ROLAND: Screaming won’t always get you out of these situations.

ROLAND: So tell me, why do you want to be an office worker. Teppei: I wrote on the document that I am a NEET, since I have a depression and didn’t want to write that down.

ROLAND: So you currently aren’t working. Teppei: No, I am not. I want to start working as an office worker because if I start working as a Host, I think it will crush me mentally. Teppei: Then, slowly, I can increase things that I can do and then become a Host later.

ROLAND: I’ll be honest with you. This might be harsh, but you won’t be able to do anything as an office worker if you think of it as a compromise. Doing the office work isn’t that easy.

ROLAND: You are misunderstanding what the office work is. They are the core of the business, and hosts, are sort of like a product.

ROLAND: I think without a good office worker, even with a great Host, the store will fail. That’s how much I value the office workers. Not saying that your view is wrong, it’s just the way I view it.

ROLAND: Also, not saying that having depression is bad, but being a Host really strikes your metals. Teppei: I understand. ROLAND: Albright then, thank you for coming. Take care of your self. ROLAND: Now go home! (mimicking Tetsuya Takeda again). Teppei: Isn’t that a bit harsh. Anyway, thank you.

ROLAND: I think he is disregarding the importance of office works. Director: Did he make the business card thinking that he already got the job here? ROLAND: I did feel his passion, but again, it’s a tough job and requires a steel mind…

RRomane: A lot of the Hosts also are a weirdo, and I think it can be hard for him to make them listen to what he says.

ROLAND: Hi, please introduce yourself. Kouki: Hi, I’m Kouki, 22 yrs old. I formally worked as a Host and I call myself Felix of Minami (location in Osaka, Japan).

ROLAND: What’s that? Kouki: Felix is a member from an idol group named Stray Kids. ROLAND: Uh.. I have no idea who they are. Romane, search it on google.

(Middle-aged-man learning about the younger generations) ROLAND: So people often call you like that? Kouki: Nope, it’s just I call myself that because I like him a lot. ROLAND: Oh good, you are being honest, and I like that. During the second audition, there was a guy referring himself to as TeTe.

ROLAND: So you have a lot of confidence… where exactly? Applicant: Everything, including my face. People tell me that I look like Taehyung Kim from BTS. ROLAND: You will get killed one day…

ROLAND: So he pretended as if he really looks like him. Anyway, I like your smiles. How long have you worked as a Host and what was your total sales? Kouki: About a year and a half, and total was around 0.8 million. ROLAND: Hm… ok then.

ROLAND: What are things that you are putting effort into? Kouki: I never stop improving myself to look cool, such as doing skin cares, which resulted in people complementing my skin conditions.

Kouki: And even if I don’t have money, I put no money… money into the beauty. ROLAND: No money? Kouki: Sorry, I do spend money. I’m kind of nervous.

ROLAND: Can I ask your salary? And how much do you spend into beauty/cosmetics? Kouki: I get about 150 to 200k Yen, and I spend about 50k a month.

ROLAND: So you are spending a lot of money and effort. Kouki: Yes, especially my hair and skin. ROLAND: I can see that. Your hair is fully dyed, unlike Romane’s pudding hair.

Kouki: Yes. I make sure to take care of the most basic thing, which is to be a man that people won’t be embarrassed of when walking next to me. There were things that shines within this candidate other than the high beauty standards.

Yushi: You got a nice voice. You sound like Nadal (a Japanese comedian). (Yushi, 25 yrs old, head of THE CLUB Osaka, highest monthly sales of 120 million Yen) Kouki: I’d like to do it once more without hesitating. Yushi: Go ahead.

Yushi: That is perfect. People from Osaka are so different from ones in Tokyo, they got a quick response. First day of the interview, total of 18 interviews were completed. ROLAND listens to Yushi’s opinion, and both are deciding the successful candidates.

ROLAND: Romane was so boring today. So tomorrow, I’d like to switch members around. Me and Shitsudo will be a team, and the other three (Yushi, Romane, and Sogo) will be in the other team. ROLAND: How was the candidate No.1? Shitsudo: The body double?

(ROLAND: You look very funny. What’s going on.) ROLAND: At a first glance, I didn’t like him. But the more I talk to him, he made me feel like he can get high number of sales.

Yushi: I’d take him. ROLAND: Really? Why though, didn’t you think he is a bit weird. (No.1, Yuya, 32 yrs old, works as a chef)

Yushi: Although his appearance isn’t good, worked as a chef at a Chinese restaurant, I think he has the gut. ROLAND: You don’t have to talk about his appearance over and over. Yushi: He is also now a manager of a Udon restaurant. I think he can fight through anything without running away.

ROLAND: I agree. Also, he applied to this interview the first, meaning he truly wants to be a Host. He made me think that there must be a t least one person who is as passionate as him.

Yushi: He is one of your kinds, from the same tribe isn’t he. ROLAND: Why not, let’s form the ROLAND’s tribe. Let’s hire him. (No.2 Leon, 27 yrs old, a dancer)

ROLAND: How abut the candidate No.2? He isn’t fancy at all, but he seemed like a very good kid to me. Yushi: I will take him. He said he wanted to be like you ROLAND which I wasn’t sure of.

ROLAND: Meaning? Yushi: Being a Host shouldn’t be who you want to be. It’s more like being your true self. But, I would still take him. ROLAND: The candidate No.11, he is my favorite. Yushi: He is a must. (No. 11, Mitsuki, 19 yrs old, works at a factory)

ROLAND: He works at a Starbucks, and that’s a good sign. Yushi: He looks cool, and he is good at singing as well. (No.12, Kouki, 23 yrs old, works at a Starbucks) ROLAND: Then let’s hire him.

Yushi: I’m taking him. ROLAND: I think the world should have less NEET. (No.18, Toga, 22 yrs old, former Host, responds very fast in a conversation) ROLAND: How about No.21, Mr. Felix. Yushi: He is a must as well. He is entertaining and is the ideal Host of Osaka. (No.21 Kouki, former Host)

ROLAND: And how about No.4? Yushi: This is a hard one. Although I did think about hiring him, I think we can use him as the “help,” since he is coming from Kanagawa and won’t quit.

ROLAND: No way. I disagree. He changes his job too often. When I asked him how long he worked for in the previous job, he was touching the accessories and was confused. ROLAND: Can you work like that at a convenience store? Candidate: No, I dyed for this interview.

ROLAND: And how long have you been working at the convenience store? Candidate: Um… The metal…? (In Japanese, tenure and metal both sounds the same) ROLAND: He couldn’t keep the conversation going. I really didn’t like him. Yushi: Then let’s not hire him. (No.4 Aoto, 26 yrs old, formerly worked as a Host)

ROLAND: How about No.5, who had a great smile. ROLAND: You look so happy. Was there a great thing? Candidate: No. I’m good at smiling and I try to smile as often as I can.

Yushi: I don’t want him. Romane: I don’t think he can get sales, but even with no experience, I think he learns very quickly. ROLAND: So you want to hire him as the extra? Yushi: We don’t need to hire anyone that is there as an extra.

ROLAND: What I thought was, since he is an accountant, he must be smart, so I’d like to hire him as the office worker. Yushi: I agree, as an office worker, I think he is a great choice.

ROLAND: Still, I haven’t made up my min. Yushi: As a Host, he won’t even be a tiny bid of help. (No.5, Tomoki, 26 yrs old, an accountant)

Yushi: I liked the No.9. He is the cute one, who also works at a bar. He has many male customers, and being admired by the same gender is an important factor as a Host. (No.9 Seiya, 21 yrs old, works at a bar)

ROLAND: I don’t think he is being admired, rather they are trying to have sex with him. ROLAND: One thing to keep in mind is that he is a bad drinker. Seiya: When I drink, I get depressed a lot.

ROLAND: He said his motivation gets up and down easily when he drinks. So I won’t hire him. I’m not a big fan of the cute ones anyway. ROLAND: He is too serious about things. Yushi: Yup. And I didn’t find anything interesting about him. (No.14, Kaito, 23 yrs old, a business man)

Yushi: I want to take this No.15. ROLAND: Are you for real. (No.15, Risa Mijun, a public worker) Risa: I resigned from my previous work to come here. ROLAND: Where did you work at? Risa: I worked at a city hall.

Shitsudo: However, he made this big presentation about himself, I think it could be a plus for the store. ROLAND: I know what you want to say. A Host club where former public worker works at sounds quite nice. Yushi: I don’t care about those parts either.

ROLAND: I personally think that the skills to greet customers are the most important thing as a Host. ROLAND: We were talking about a comedian, and he had this face that he 100% doesn’t know, and also doesn’t care about what I’m saying. This is the face that ROLAND disliked.

ROLAND: You don’t know about him, do you. Candidate: I do. ROLAND: I think he will say bunch of lies, and get into trouble. Yushi: I personally think those skills aren’t something that everyone has from the beginning.

Yushi: It’s not like his conversation skills are very low, and thus I think we can teach and train him later on. ROLAND: I disagree. Understanding the vibes aren’t something that can be trained, it’s what you are born with. I’d hire him as an office worker though.

ROLAND: How about No.19. Yushi: I won’t hire him. (No.19, Koyo, 26 yrs old, sells fishes) ROLAND: He looked nice in the suit don’t you think? Yushi: I will take him immediately if he wants to be an office worker.

ROLAND: I got a good news for you. He is also fine working as an office worker. Yushi: Then let’s hire him. ROLAND: How about Mr. Tetsuya Takeda? Yushi: It’s a no go. (No.20, Teppei, 28 yrs old, currently a NEET)

Yushi: If we are taking the pervious person as an office worker, I don’t think we need the No.20. The successful candidates of the first day of audition has been decided. No.1, Yuya, 32 yrs old, No.2 LEON, 27 yrs old, No.7&8 did not agree to be on YouTube.

No.11 Mitsuki, 19 yrs old, No.12 Kouki, 23 yrs old, No.18, Toga, No.19, Koyo, 27 yrs old, No.21, Koki, 22 yrs old. ROLAND: I’m a bit scared that Osaka store might fail. I don’t see anyone here will be able to sell 10 million Yen a month, other than Mitsuki.

ROLAND: I wish there was someone like Matoba or Sota. (Ryosuke Matoba, 25 yrs old, highest monthly sales of 17 million Yen, worked as a Host for a year and a half)

ROLAND: No one from the first audition were like them, sadly. (Souta Mizuki, 23 yrs old, 7 months as a Host, former train conductor, highest monthly sales of 12million Yen) Second day of the audition. Would anyone be worth hiring?

ROLAND: You work at the self-defense-force! (No.26, Akio, 24 yrs old, a member of Japanese self-defense-force) Yushi: You are a comedian? Ginto: Yes, I was a comedian and belonged to Yoshimoto (a famous group of Japanese comedian). (No.51 Ginto, 26 yrs old, a comedian) Next Up….

Candidate: It’s my downtime right now. ROLAND: What happened?! (Will there be a candidate that becomes the ace of Osaka store?) Candidate: I’d like to learn how women feels. ROLAND: We are not a training facility. ROLAND: You look very cool. You are hired. (Here comes the outstanding candidate with great talent)
