Oh hey, thanks for checking out the description! If you’re looking for anything in here, there’s five “Fascinating Facts” that I can share!;
1. What inspired me to make this video is listening to many YouTube videos of the Chao voice clips that can be heard in the Sonic Games. I felt that not every voice clip is good enough to be high quality while there are a smaller amount of good ones than the lower quality voice clips. The cherry on top is a *certain video that I’ll mention on the second fact*, which not only gives me an idea of how I can do it, but it motivated me enough to do something that I considered would be life changing; attempt to recreate the Chao voice clips from the Sonic Adventure series.
2. The Chao’s voice is actually pitch shifted higher than the unedited recording to make the voice recordings sound cuter for the characters. In addition, it’s similar to how it’s done for Yoshi from Super Mario and Gir from Invader Zim. Here’s the link of “Chao Voice Acting at Normal Speed – Tomoko Sasaki” made by SEGAbits for those who’re feeling curious: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=dWgjtrIKoTs
3. I originally did some voice tests as I tried to copy Tomoko Sasaki’s voice before I raised the pitch shift. Yet, I had a lot more fun messing around with what I have recently discovered. Afterwards, I made more and more voice recordings until I thought that these recordings combined would be long enough for a “Voice Acting Demo Reel”…
4. The voice recordings in this video have been done in the span of three days and the total of voice recording files I used are eight. As a result of what I have done, I decided to make a video with them instead of letting any of the Chao voice recordings I have go to waste!
5. Another reason to why I made this video is mainly because *based on what I have seen and heard on the internet*, no one else has tried to mimic the games counterpart of Chao before. People would either take the Chao voice clips from the Adventure games the way they are (despite that they aren’t in the best quality) and use it or tried to mimic Rebecca Honig’s version of Chao (aka, the Chao in “Sonic X”) alternatively.
I’ll admit that it’s not the best and there’s specific parts that might need more work, but I still feel proud of this!
The sounds are gonna be more “unique” than having them be recycled for now. However, if there is so many people who likes this video very much and if I have a lot of time on my hands, then I’ll make a video of me trying to recreate ALL of the Chao sounds from the Sonic Adventure games (along with maybe some other games if there’s any) as best as I can!
Heck, whenever that video would be posted, I actually wouldn’t mind anyone using it in their own Sonic projects as long as they give credit to me, use it for non-profit only, and to NEVER use my voice for AI at all. Using my own voice for AI would make me feel REALLY uncomfortable…
Anyways, feel free to share your own thoughts in the comments if you want to!
This is actually SUPER impressive! I'm just going to say that this is one of the most impressive Chao impressions there are!
(From what I've seen at least)
This is genuinely so peak
